The exhibition “FORMA SUONO ANIMA,” an outdoor sculpture exhibition of Kan Yasuda at Viareggio, has been extended by six months and will be held until March 15, 2025 April 20, 2025.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Puccini’s death, and the city of Viareggio sponsored an outdoor sculpture exhibition in Viareggio, about 5 km from the open-air theater, to honor the “Kan Yasuda’s version of Madame Butterfly” that has fascinated people for 24 years.
Yasuda installed nine sculptures along the seaside street lined with beach houses. In addition, Yasuda installed five sculptures, including the large “MYOMU” in the lakeside plaza next to the theater in time for the performance season.

The exhibition was titled “FORMA (form), SUONO (sound), ANIMA (soul)”.

People placed their hands on the sculptures, which blended into the townscape, and walked through the spaces between them, engaging with them as they wished. People will be able to experience the “form” through their five senses and enjoy the “sound” of opera, which will resonate with their hearts and trigger a great “soul” vibration.

Pietrasanta, a town in northern Tuscany, where Michelangelo and many other sculptors sought out the marble of this region and produced numerous works.
It was in 1995 that the first exhibition focusing on a single sculptor was held in this town. It was an open-air sculpture exhibition of Kan Yasuda, who has been creating works in this area for many years.
In 2025, Pietrasanta will host the first Kan Yasuda “Oltre la forma” exhibition in 30 years.
The exhibition was announced last year by Mayor Pietrasanta, who said that 2025 would be the 25th Holy Year of the Catholic Church and an opportunity to share peace, harmony, tranquility, beauty and joy through art.
The exhibition will take place in various locations in the medieval city, such as Piazza del Duomo and Sant’Agostino Church, where more than 20 sculptures will be installed in response to their respective environments.

We are pleased to announce the renewal of our website.
